Drug Drug Description Pyrimethamine An antiparasitic drug used in the prevention and treatment of toxoplasmosis and malaria. Mefloquine An antimalarial agent used in the prophylaxis and treatment of malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax. Quinine An alkaloid used to treat uncomplicated Plasmodium falciparum malaria. Amodiaquine An antimalarial drug. Primaquine An antimalarial indicated to prevent relapse of vivax malaria. Proguanil A medication indicated for prophylaxis and treatment of Plasmodium falciparum malaria. Halofantrine An antimalarial used for the treatment of severe malaria. Hydroxychloroquine An antimalarial medication used to treat uncomplicated cases of malaria and for chemoprophylaxis in specific regions. Also a disease modifying anti-rheumatic drug (DMARD) indicated for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and lupus erythematosus. Artemether An antimalarial agent used in combination with lumefantrine for the treatment of acute uncomplicated malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum. Lumefantrine An antimalarial agent used in combination with artemether for the treatment of acute uncomplicated malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum. Artesunate Artesunate is an artemesinin derivative indicated for the initial treatment of severe malaria.
