PharmacodynamicsCAD106 can block the formation of beta-amyloid plaques in the brain. Since the formation of such plaques is considered a hallmark of the disease, CAD106 may offer the potential to advance the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
Mechanism of actionCAD106 is designed to induce antibodies against the beta-amyloid-protein that inhibit the formation of plaques in the brain of Alzheimer's disease patients. CAD106 consists of two components, the Immunodrug carrier Qb coupled with a fragment of the beta-amyloid-protein. In animal studies it has been shown that treatment with CAD106 can block the formation of beta-amyloid plaques in the brain.
